November 17, Friday, 6:00 p.m. “Scanorama” festival film “Modern apartment” (dir. Dainius Liškevičius) will be presented at Siauliai Art Gallery.
Ticket price – 5 Eur, with a discount – 3 Eur.
During the “Virus” festival, we will invite you to visit the apartment of visual art creator Dainius Liškevičius. True, in an indirect sense – we will take a look at the artist’s house during the screening of his feature film “Modern Apartment”.
The artist will invite you to visit his personal space, where the boundaries between everyday life and creativity blur, ordinary actions – decorating a Christmas tree, rearranging furniture, selecting drawings, drinking tea – turn into performances, and family members – their characters. The opening shots of the personal archive documenting the last two decades intertwine the processes of the artist’s life, work and the new forms of the art scene. The rhythm and mood of the film are created by wit and existential reflections, the soundtrack includes the repertoire of “Melodija” records, marches, the voices of Žuvintas birds and Hawaiian rhythms, and the action is watched intently by a peasant couple from a grandmother’s plate, which has become a family relic.
Dainius Liškevičius is one of the brightest and most active artists of the “breakthrough generation”, in 2022 awarded the Lithuanian National Art and Culture Prize for criticizing cultural stereotypes in the forms of contemporary art.
The film was presented to the audience for the first time during the Scanorama film festival.
