We kindly invite you to the opening of the Media Art Festival ENTER’16 on 2018 April 27th (Friday) 5.00 p. m. at Šiauliai Art Gallery
Art as Playful Amusement
The exhibition “InterActions” (curator Virginijus Kinčinaitis) of the 2018 Media Arts Festival “Enter’16” is dedicated to the development of Lithuanian kinetic and interactive art. This will be the largest and most playful exhibition of the contemporary art in the history of the city’s cultural life. The exhibition “InterActions” will provide an opportunity to look at the meaningful interfaces between the first kinetic sculptures and the latest interactive installations and will reveal the development of the game’s attractiveness in the art. The conceptually rich works of the most famous artists will make it easier to understand the processes of our society that are overwhelmed by the entertaining content. On the other hand, this is a very entertaining and diverse psychosomatic experience exhilarating exhibition. It’s not a space of contemplation but a full-fledged engagement.
Looking at the very earliest examples of interactive, kinetic art in Lithuania, it is well-known that they were prophetic, meaningful and highly predictable interactive technology developments in the immediate future of society. Interactive artistic ideas are soluble in the global “gamefication”, so it’s important to see what’s left of the source of such art.
From another perspective of time, it is interesting to look at the first works in which strong sculptural plastics were well matched with the technological innovations of the time.
Participants of the exhibition “InterActions” are the world-renowned artsists as well as the Venice Biennial artists representing Lithuania: Dainius Liškevičius, Žilvinas Kempinas, Julijonas Urbonas, a large group of pioneers in the field of media art in Lithuania, guests from Latvia and the students of the media and design art of Lithuania, who are just beginning their careers.
